  • integrate learning from this half term’s 2 training sessions into your teaching

Induction tutors

Arrange a training session for the ECT based on their chosen area of focus for the half term. This should take the form of an observation or discussion with an expert colleague who exemplifies good practice in that focus area.

It’s helpful for the ECT’s mentor to attend the session for reference.

Duration: 60 minutes.

Mentors

We recommend attending this week’s training session with an expert colleague for reference.

Use the materials below to:

  • deconstruct the learning from the training session
  • plan how your ECT will integrate what they learned into their teaching

Duration: 60 minutes.

Weeks 4, 5 and 6

ECTs

You’ll:

  • continue to integrate new learning into your teaching
  • have a lesson observed by your mentor
  • meet with your mentor to discuss your area of focus

Mentors

Carry out a lesson observation with a specific focus on how the ECT has integrated new learning into their practice. Consider how the identified area of focus has been applied.

Arrange a discussion with your ECT and use the instructional coaching model to provide feedback: praise, probe, set precise actions, plan, practise.

Look ahead to the next half term’s training materials and areas of focus.

Duration: 80 minutes.
